From Vickisa,

I will have a solo show in Gallery Route One in Point Reyes Station called Twists and Turns. Opening April 5th, 3 – 5. I will be there. It seems like quite often, there’s a lot of twists and turns, unexpected and difficult to land. Some things that should be very easy take, some twists and become time sucking and difficult. I am noticing that more and experiencing many mini disasters myself. Life is tricky. While working on a piece of art, it will often take a turn or a twist on its own. Seems like a lot more twisting and turning lately but I have also seen this in some earlier paintings too. Drawing from live models has been a part of my life forever. When drawing models, animals, musicians what often makes them so beautiful is how they twist and turn. I always include some life drawings in my shows and limited edition, printed, accordion books. Also showing Maakon Yowa: Grounded in Coast Miwok. And Jizell Albright Overview.
I will be there at the opening day April 5 and all day April 20, 24 and May 11 closing with a celebration. Hope to see you. Galleryrouteone.org for previews etc

If you get my blurts you will probably see something again as a reminder that I REALLY WANT TO SEE YOU.
Basically I got out for about two days out of the month I’ve been so in lockdown getting ready for these shows and lots more Twists and Turns. A while ago I went to see Sam Grisman Project. I love them so much and they’re so nice to me. I found it so uplifting. I made little drawings of the band members that are in my show.
Last week I went to a Pow Wow. I’m connected with a Coast Miwok good friend and I just had go to track him down. It was the most amazing experience, so calming and beautiful, and the people were just so great and gorgeous dressed in regalia with beautiful things that most of them had made. Took tons of photos.

I just love how David Gans who love the Grateful Dead and their music made a career out of being that person and more. David Gans is doing an all online Stanford Grateful Dead class that starts April 8. Six consecutive Tuesdays starting April 8, 5:30-7:20pm – live on Zoom or view the session later via Canvas. This class will focus mostly on guided listening sessions, co-curated with these guest speakers: Rob Barraco (PLQ, Dark Star Orchestra), Jeff Mattson (Dark Star Orchestra), Bob Bralove (Dose Hermanos), musicologist Shaughn O’Donnell, David’s broadcasting partner Gary Lambert, and Stanford’s own Giancarlo Aquilanti, who does the orchestrations for Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros!
Here’s an interview in Santa Cruz Good Times, talking about the class and other stuff.
And here’s an interview with Wook Plus, recapping last weekend’s Dead & Company shows. MUS72 starts Tuesday, April 8. Stanford class is at https://continuingstudies.stanford.edu/gratefuldead
David wrote me this about the cover with my art for his CD he made “My favorite of all my record covers!! And of course we have the painting in our front hall for all to see!”
